Menopause Depression is Best Treated with This Natural Medicine

Menopause depression is a bit like a mid-life crisis. It can be a realisation that you need to change aspects of your life. Or change direction. The depression can come about because you feel you haven’t done as much as you would have liked to, with your life.

But there is another reason for menopause depression.

Some women have a hard time all their menstruating years. They suffer from irritability, commonly referred to as PMT or pre-menstrual tension.

And it’s the P or the ‘pre’ which is under discussion here. The pre means that the irritability, or other symptoms are worse before the period. Once the blood starts to flow, the tension is released, so the irritability disappears.

At menopause, this monthly release is no longer there. So the tension can build up. Whenever something builds up and you know you’re not coping, depression can set in.

When you can’t cope, it really means it’s your immune system that can’t cope. It’s not strong enough. So the first thing you need to do is to focus on raising that.

You can do that through a healthy diet, relaxing every day, getting a good night’s sleep, getting outside into a natural environment at least once a day, and so forth.

Homeopathy works by raising your struggling immune system. And it does it quickly.

I generally don’t recommend people with menopause depression (or indeed any kind of depression) should treat themselves. You’re not in a position to be objective. You’re better off getting help from a professional homeopath.

But not everyone can do that, for various reasons, not just financial. And you may be able to help yourself by using a homeopathic medicine found in most comprehensive home prescribing kits. But you will have to do some work.

Why? Because to use homeopathy successfully, you need to be able to match your symptoms to those of the medicine. Not all. But you need to see the ‘symptom picture’ or feel it’s a good match.

The homeopathic medicine Lachesis typically has hot flushes, headaches and/or depression during the menopause, or during the periods.

The other strong keynote symptoms include:

  • all symptoms are worse for heat (so for example your menopause depression is worse when it is hot, or when you are hot)
  • generally those who do well on Lachesis have a high libido
  • you may have had problems with the contraceptive pill, perhaps that was the start of when you felt depressed
  • symptoms are worse when you wake up in the morning, you wake into depression, whereas you went to bed much happier
  • you dislike constricting clothes especially around your neck – in fact you’re intolerant of them
  • you may have a phobia for snakes – you can’t even look at a picture of one
