Weight fluctuation is a very common problem that can severely affect the elasticity of the skin and the overall health condition of a person. At times it becomes very difficult to manage this irregular cycle of weight gain and weight loss. This sudden change leaves behind stretch marks that do not fade away easily. With repeated stretching and shrinking of the skin, the skin completely loses elasticity and causes the skin to slump.
Weight fluctuation generally occurs due to the following factors:
Hormonal Change: This is a very common problem observed in the women. Hormonal change leads to water retention, thus resulting in weight gain. As the hormonal level balances, water is eliminated from the body, leading to weight loss.
Depression or anxiety: Often women tend to eat more during depression. Just to divert their mood, they eat more than the body requires resulting in calorie storage in the form of extra fat. On the other hand, if you eat less, the body uses the fat from the fat deposits for proper functioning. This will result in weight loss.
Unhealthy eating habits: Unhealthy oily and junk foods not only affect the health but can severely effect the proper functioning of the body. Following a balanced diet and keeping a check on the calorie intake can prevent unwanted weight gain.
Excessive salt in-take: Often excessive salt in-take leads to water trapping in the body, thereby welcoming the unwanted extra pound.
Ideally, women need 2000 calories in a day to maintain a slim and toned body. Follow a diet full of essential nutrients and fewer chemicals. Drink water regularly. In a day, drink atleast 8-10 glasses of water. To know more about the food and fitness chart, you can consult a dietician to keep an eye on your calorie intake.

Searching for ways to improve their life, and most of the time personal development is the first stepping-stone. What is personal development? In short, it’s learning to listen to your heart, and realizing that how you react to the world is much more important than what actually happens to you. It’s letting go of limiting beliefs and realizing that you can truly accomplish anything once you set your mind to it. It’s changing your “within” so you can function optimally and prosper better in the world around you.
Recently, many people have begun to realize that they can create wealth by using the principals of personal development in their business opportunities. By opening themselves up to the possibility of creating wealth and opportunity, they attract those circumstances into their life naturally and begin enjoying tremendous success on a financial as well as personal level.
Think about it this way. Years ago, the idea of “starting a business” was not one that was widely accepted. It was “risky” and, while not frowned upon, it definitely wasn’t something the average person considered a viable option. The attitude for most people was that success meant a comfortable job that offered long-term security. You worked hard all your life for someone else, provided for your family, and then retired.
Although there is nothing wrong with this mode of thinking, to say that most people have this view now would be wrong. More and more people today understand that owning their own business and using their creativity to create wealth enables them to live a life they’ve always dreamed about. They don’t want to be “stuck” in one job any longer. They want opportunity to learn and to grow, challenge, and freedom. They want a life that lifts them up instead of making them feel chained and monotonous.
More people than ever are discovering their entrepreneurial spirit, and it’s a number that is constantly growing. Are they using personal development in their businesses to create wealth? Well, of course not all of them are, but you’d be surprised at how many are. The days of personal development being New Age are long gone. People are awakening to the fact that what you focus on is what you create and what you see.
Here’s a good example. Many people think constantly about what they don’t have. They don’t have enough money, they don’t have a nice enough car, and they don’t have a nice enough house. If that’s where you put your attention, then of course that’s all you’re going to see. You won’t really move further past that.
Think about what might happen if you turned inward and started being truly grateful for what you do have, and what you are going to accomplish. Instead of putting your attention on not having enough money, you put your attention on the opportunities to create more wealth in your life. You focus on something that you can do, a positive, instead of not having, which is negative.
And think of the positive energy that transpires if you use your motivation and inspiration to help others realize their dreams. It’s a forward motion that, like a snowball, gets bigger and bigger and bigger the more time passes. The more you focus on the possibilities that exist and on helping others you increase the wealth and abundance that comes into your own life. It’s a magic recipe for success in and of itself.
Take a look at people who are truly happy and successful. Sure, there are plenty of people that are wealthy, but they’re miserable, and conversely, there are plenty of happy people that are broke. If you want to create wealth in all areas and have a joyful life at the same time, then you must turn inward first and then use the principals of personal development in your own life and business. You help yourself, and once you’ve done that you can help lift up others in the same way. It’s a cycle of giving that not only pays off in your business, but you get even more back spiritually knowing that you’re affecting positive change in the world.

Being a fat loss bootcamp owner and personal trainer in Singapore, I am dead serious about helping people reach their fitness, weight loss, fat burning and muscle gaining goals. As expected, we spend A LOT of time talking about the perfect healthful diet. Diet, more than anything else, affects fat loss and fitness! Even if you were attending boot camp 4 times a week on top of personal training sessions, if your diet was crappy, you would NOT reach your goals.
The idea healthful diet should contain a lot of FIBER. Many people have far too little fiber in their diet for optimal health, particularly if that diet is mostly made up of processed foods.
So, what is fiber?
Fiber is the part of the plants we eat that our digestive enzymes can’t break down into absorbable nutrients. The main forms of fiber are soluble fiber, insoluble fiber and resistant starch. All three forms of fiber are usually labelled as “dietary fiber” on food packaging.
Fiber has an essential part to play in maintaining health and an ideal body weight. For instance, fiber buffers the impact of digested food on blood sugar and insulin levels, reducing the promotion of fat storage. Also, high-fiber foods need more time to chew, so your body has more time to register that you’re full, so you’re less likely to overeat, fills you up longer and has more volume for fewer calories.
Here is a breakdown of the 3 different types of fiber and their health benefits:
1. SOLUBLE FIBER: Soluble fiber becomes a gel when dissolved in water. Most of this will be undigested, but a small amount is fermented and partially broken down in the colon. Health benefits of soluble fiber include:
- slowing down digestion so you can absorb nutrients better – helping to regulate blood sugar levels (great for people naturally intolerant of carbohydrates, diabetics and those with prediabetics conditions) -lowering levels of total cholesterol and LDL cholestorol -encouraging growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria while reducing number of bad bacteira
Sources of soluble fiber include most fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, psyllium husks, flaxseeds, barley, dried beans, oat bran and oats.
2. INSOLUBLE FIBER: Insoluble fiber won’t dissolve in water and is not digested any where in the body. It’s mostly made of cellulose (from the cell walls of whatever plant you ate) that leaves the body intact. Health benefits of insoluble fiber include:
- pulling toxins out of the body (very important considering out modern lifestyle and environment) – helping with regular bowel movements =) – helping food move through the gut (one advantage of rapid bowel movements is that it may help minimize our exposure to DNA-damaging chemicals and other toxins in food) – controlling the pH balance in the intestines
3. RESISTANT STARCH: Resistant starch re complex carbohydrates (sugars) that resist digestion and arrive in the colon largely intact. It offers some of the benefits of both soluble and insoluble fiber. An example of a resistant starch is hard bread crust, which resists digestion until it’s in the colon, where it is partially digested by fermentation.
Now for the bottom line – how do we get more fiber in diet?
Here are 4 simple steps!
1. Don’t juice – eat only the whole fruit (apples and oranges etc) or vegetable (carrots). 2. Eat more vegetables! 3. Use a fiber supplement. It’s best to use a gluten-free type of fiber, and switch brands of fiber after week, even if you have no history of gluten sensitivity, as it’s easy for many people to develop gluten sensitivities if stay on the same brand for long (you can alternate between two brands at the end of every week). 4. Eat whole grains instead of refined grains (well, no one should be eating refined grains anyway!)
Enjoy the health benefits of fiber!

When it comes to dieting, far too many people set themselves up for failure before they even begin the process. They literally dread going on their diets and before they start the process are planning their mishaps along the way. Sad to say but true, far too many would be dieters are planning their first Rocky Road mishap while eating their last bowl of Rocky Road before the big event.
I have no idea why we tend to do this to ourselves but it is something I see in dieters everywhere. The far too popular notion is that one must binge on the foods most loved and enjoyed before beginning the dieting process because these things must be completely eliminated in to shed those unwanted pounds. If you are honest with yourself, nothing could be further from the truth. Moderation is simply a concept that many of us are loathe to embrace.
You must change your way of thinking about food and your personal enjoyment of food in for any diet you embrace to be successful. Food isn’t the enemy. And that is something that not enough people really understand. Even the ‘tasty’ foods aren’t the enemy. The enemy is your personal inability to properly portion the foods you eat. The problem is that the vast majority of us eat the wrong foods far more often than we eat the right foods. This is where the problems lie.
Our bodies need the nutrients we are lacking by not eating the five servings of vegetables and three servings of fruit each day that we should consume. Our bodies know that something is missing and we feel hungry or deprived. If we were actually consuming the proper balance of fruits and veggies each day we would find that we were far less likely to feel hungry and desire those foods that aren’t as healthy. This means we would be much more likely to enjoy them in moderation as they should be enjoyed.
Portion control is another problem that we have. We live in a society of “up selling”. Super sized fries and empty calories by the gallon of your favorite cola are offered with almost every fast food meal that can be bought. You must learn to say no to these things and avoid situations in which you may feel tempted to partake in these up sized orders.
To be truly successful when dieting you need to embrace the process as building a healthier you rather than depriving yourself of something. Do not think of your weigh loss plan as something negative but rather a positive force in your life to make changes for the better. When you have negative thoughts do not direct them at your diet. When you feel deprived remind yourself that you are depriving your bones of carrying around that excess weight. Remind yourself that you are depriving your wardrobe of those bulky clothes that are designed to hide the bulges. Remind yourself that you are depriving your body of years of bulges and bringing back the body of your youth.
Do not get so caught up in the dieting process that you forget to enjoy some of the goodies that life has to offer. Watching your weight and counting your calories does not mean that you can never go over your allotment. The goal however is to find balance. If you learn to portion your food correctly, indulge in moderation, and incorporate enjoyable calorie burning activities into your daily routine you may be amazed at the results.
Dieting for weight loss and health is only depriving if you allow it to be. If you cannot control yourself when it comes to indulging then by all means avoid indulging. However, if you can learn to incorporate those small treats into your routine in moderation and burn those extra calories as well, then you should find yourself a much happier and more successful ‘dieter’ than you have ever managed to be in the past.

Tennis elbow is a condition in which tendon fibers that attach on epicondyle on the elbow’s exterior degenerates. The tendons talked about here anchor the muscles that help wrist and hand to lift. Although tennis elbow occurs mostly in patients of thirty to fifty years of age but it can happen to people of any age. Also tennis elbow affects almost fifty percent of teenagers who are in racquet sports thus the name “tennis elbow”. But still most of the patients who suffer with tennis elbow are people who don’t play racquet sports. Majority if the times there isn’t any specific injury before the symptoms start showing up. Tennis elbow can also happen to people who use their forearm muscles frequently and vigorously for day to day work and recreational activities. Ironically some patients develop the condition without any of the activity related reasons that leads to the symptoms.
The symptoms of tennis elbow include severe burning pain on the elbow’s exterior region. In majority of the cases this starts as a slow and mild pain gradually worsening with the passage of few weeks or sometimes months. The pain worsens when one tries to lift objects. In some cases it may pain even while lifting light objects like a book or full coffee cup. In the severest cases it can pain even at the movement of the elbow.
The diagnosis of the tennis elbow involves physician enquiring about the medical history of the teenager and a physical examination of the elbow by pressing directly on the part where bone is prominent on the elbow’s exterior to check if it causes any pain. The physician may also ask the teenager to lift the fingers or wrist and apply pressure to check if it causes any pain again. X-rays are never opted for diagnosis. However a MRI scan may be done to see changes in tendons at the attachment to the bone.
There are many treatment options available and in majority of the cases non-surgical treatment is given a try. The ultimate goal of the 1st phase of the treatment is pain relief. Be ready to hear from the physician to stop any activity leading to the symptoms. The doctor may also tell the teenager to apply ice to elbow’s exterior and he/she may also tell the teenager to take anti-inflammatory medicines for relief from pain.
The symptoms also diminished with the help of orthotics. The physician may also want to go for counterforce braces and also wrist splints which can greatly cut down symptoms by providing rest to tendons and muscles. The symptoms should show signs of recovery within 4 to 6 weeks otherwise next option would be to go for a injection called corticosteroid in the vicinity of the elbow. This greatly reduces pain and is also very safe to use. There are many side affects involved if it is overused. Once there is a relief from pain the treatment’s next phase starts which involve modification of activities in to prevent the symptoms from returning. The doctor may also prescribe the teenager to go for physical therapy which may include stretching exercises to gradually increase the strength of the affected tendons and muscles. Physical therapies have high success rates and return your elbow back to normal working again. Again non-surgical procedures are highly successful in eighty five to ninety percent patients.
Surgical procedure is considered only when patients undergo relentless pain that doesn’t improve even after 6 months of non-surgical treatment. The procedure involves removal of affected tendon tissue and attaching it back to bone. The surgery is done on outpatient basis and does not need stay at the hospital. The surgery is done by making a small incision on elbow’s exterior’s bony prominence. In recent years a surgery known as arthroscopic surgery has also been developed but no major benefits have been seen using it over the traditional method of open incision.

When weight loss isn’t enough, patients seek the expertise and skill of Phoenix Plastic Surgeons and Scottsdale Plastic Surgeons to make the contour difference! Like many bariatric patients, Andrea lost a hundred and twenty pounds after having gastric bypass surgery. She incorporated a healthy diet and worked out on a regular basis, and for the most part, was with her results, except for one thing he saggy skin hanging on her lower abdomen.
No matter how much she exercised, this flap of skin was not going to go away. In many ways, this took the joy out of the progress she had made and she began to focus on the negative aspects of her unpleasant body contour. No matter what your age, patients who have undergone bariatric surgery such as laparoscopic gastric band or gastric bypass often lose excessive amounts of weight and have extra skin which hangs uncomfortably. This overhanging or draping skin can cause discomfort, embarrassment, rashes and hygiene problems. As the director of a successful bariatric clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, I have had many patients share the disappointment they feel with their end result. They have worked so hard to get where they are and now it is almost impossible to enjoy the reward of all the effort and life changing choices they have made.
Arizona Weight Loss Solutions has referred many of its patient to Dr. Steven Gitt and Dr. Dominic Heffel of North Valley Plastic Surgery, Plastic Surgeons in Scottsdale and Plastic Surgeons in Phoenix, that have done many Post Bariatric Procedures. Andrea was referred to Dr Heffel and had a consult which was followed by a panniculectomy with a tummy tuck.
The panniculectomy is the surgical procedure that removes the large apron of skin that hangs from the abdomen. This is the most common procedure that bariatric patients discuss or ask about. In many cases this procedure is often covered by insurance for the bariatric patient due to health conditions that are created by the heavy flap of skin.
The tummy tuck portion (abdominoplasty), Andrea paid for, ut of pocket?since it was considered a cosmetic procedure. This procedure includes tightening the abdominal muscles, which is similar to creating an internal corset which produces a flatter abdomen and shapelier waistline.
Andrea dropped in for a visit recently and was ecstatic about her results. I was truly impressed with what I saw?ot only did she look great, but I think the most important difference was in her air of confidence and attitude. The loud?that seemed to hang over her was completely non existent along with the air of negativity that seemed to govern her life, even after the weight was gone.
It was as if she had come full circle and I was thrilled for her. The biggest reward I get in my profession has nothing to do with me, but rather the hard work and commitment I see in our patients each and every day. Choosing bariatric surgery is not the easy way out as some would think, but rather a difficult journey that often does not end at a weight loss goal.
I am a proponent of being the best you can be and if after having lost your weight you want to make your body look better, I believe that is a decision only that individual can make. I can only share what I have seen and the positive results and impact it has on our patient? lives.
Andrea is not the only patient that has had this type of success and gone on to explore other options. Each person has their own likes and dislikes based on their individual body form, size and weight loss, and I applaud them for taking the next step to allow the true person inside to emerge.
Hard work and a little help can go a long way to bring out a new attitude and a better you!

Reiki, ah yes, Reiki. A word many have heard – but few truly understand.
To most people Reiki is all about healing. And yes it is indeed a healing art as we’ll explain…
But – it is also so much more as well…
So What Exactly is Reiki?
Reiki, as we have already said, is best known in the west as a gentle but powerful system of hands on healing. And it is a system, which can easily be learned by anyone to heal themselves, others, plants and animals.
But as mentioned above it is so much more as well.
Reiki helps you…
* Discover your true purpose in life.
* Produce and achieve all your goals.
* Heal past traumas, which may be hindering your growth.
* Discover your own spiritual path.
* Find, contentment, spiritual enlightenment and…
…the understanding that GOD and YOU are ONE.
How does Reiki Work?
The energy of Reiki works by gently opening you up to the understanding that you are the creator of your own reality – that there is no greater power than you. With this knowing comes the realisation that everything that happens in your life happens because you want it to…
There are no accidents.
You make what happens happen.
With this awareness comes the realisation that every event in your life, including that of illness, is brought to you, by you – and that it can, therefore, be taken away by you as well.
So the short answer to how Reiki works, therefore, is the energy of Reiki works by bringing your power back to…
YOU
Who can Learn Reiki?
Everyone! – How is this possible?
Because Reiki is not learned in the traditional way we understand learning.
The ability to work with Reiki is transferred to you by a Reiki Master during an initiation ceremony. Everything is done for you.
All you have to do to experience the magic… is to bring the desire.
Where Does Reiki Energy Come From?
The most common translation of the word Reiki, which is Japanese and pronounced ray-key, is ‘the universal and holy, spiritually conscious, life force energy that energises and animates all living things’.
Every living thing in the universe is alive because of this energy.
So when people ask, “where does Reiki energy come from?” The answer has to be…
‘FROM GOD’
Is Reiki a Religion?
No, Reiki is not a religion.
You do not have to have any religious beliefs at all. It certainly could be said that there is a spiritual element to Reiki, but spirituality and religion are not the same.
How Long Does It Take To Learn Reiki?
Reiki, generally speaking, consists of three levels of training known as Reiki 1, Reiki 2 and Reiki Master. Some schools have built their courses around more levels – but three is all that is necessary.
These levels can be ‘learned’ over a period of many months, or can be taken over one intensive period.
It really depends on the individual wishing to ‘take’ Reiki.
If you feel more comfortable taking your time ‘learning’ Reiki, then do so. If you think you are ready to ‘take’ all three levels in one go, then you are ready.
It’s entirely up to you.
How Can I Experience Reiki?
Most people’s first experience of Reiki is generally through a ‘hands on healing’ therapy session.
During this time they usually report various feelings of warmth or coolness with, maybe, a sense of bubbling energy movement.
Some experience beautiful colors, or the presence of spiritual beings but most people simply experience deep relaxation and peace…
Indeed it is not uncommon for many to fall soundly asleep.
How is a Reiki Treatment Given?
A Reiki treatment is usually given in a quiet and peaceful environment with the person receiving Reiki either lying or sitting down.
The person giving Reiki will then transmit the Reiki energy to the person receiving it – placing their hands either on or over various points on the body.
A treatment can last anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour and a half, the usual being about an hour.
There is no need to remove any items of clothing except perhaps your shoes if you are lying down on a couch. So it is perfect for people who feel embarrassed or uneasy about undressing.
What Can Be Treated With Reiki?
In a word everything – for Reiki works on all levels of awareness in body, mind and spirit.
It can be compared very simply to the analogy of having a flat battery in a car…
Someone comes along with a strong, healthy battery and a set of jump leads. Connects everything up and the flat car battery suddenly has the extra energy needed to start the engine.
Reiki does this for people irrespective of what is ailing them. It gives them the extra energy they need to make themselves better – whilst, sometimes, providing them with a deeper understanding of why they made themselves ill in the first place.
Can I Treat Myself?
If you have been attuned to Reiki, then…
Yes, very much so. This is one of the many benefits of Reiki. Not only does Reiki give you the energy and ability to successfully treat yourself. It also helps to raise your level of awareness to the point where you begin to understand…
that you create your own illnesses.
This is one of the most exciting levels within Reiki.
Is It Safe For Use During Pregnancy?
Absolutely, for Reiki can do no harm.
As already explained Reiki is ‘the universal and holy, spiritually conscious, life force energy that energises and animates all living things’…
It aids and enhances all life.
I Have Heard That Reiki Can Be Sent To Others At A Distance. How Does This Work?
At the heart of all metaphysical and spiritual teachings lies the understanding that we are all one and, therefore, all connected.
Our scientists are now beginning to understand these phenomena through their research into quantum mechanics.
You may have already experienced this in action when you have suddenly, and for no apparent reason, thought of a distant friend or relative…
Moments later the ‘phone has rung and it has been this very same person on the other end of the line.
Distance healing follows this same sequence.
Through thinking of the person and intending to heal, the connection is made and the Reiki energy flows to that person.
How much does Reiki training cost?
There’s a very wide variance in the costs associated with Reiki training.
But in general terms, to go from complete beginner, to the level of Reiki Master – will set you back somewhere in the region of…
$500 to $1500
Of course, these are just general terms. You can pay less and you can pay more.
Why the enormous variance in charges?
Very good question – how long’s a piece of string?
Really, we suppose, it’s because there’s no standard price agreements. People will always charge whatever the market can bear.
Or…
Maybe some people think they are better at teaching than others. Maybe some people like to have more money than others – who knows?
But, if Reiki interests you – as you know it really, really should – and you want to take it further – as you know you really, really should…
Yet you don’t want to pay these exhorbitant fees.
What can you do…?
Well, you can come with us to the next page – we think you’ll be very pleased with what you find…
Posted on October 17, 2009, 1:37 am, by libertees, under Uncategorized.
Has anyone ever asked you this question before? Indeed, have you ever asked it yourself?
Chances are, on both counts, that you haven’t – and this is not at all surprising.
For you see…
Nobody actually gives it much thought.
Everyone seems quite happy to just accept the history as given by other Reiki practitioners, and…
No matter which story of the origins of Reiki you choose to believe in – you are asked to accept that the ability to channel Reiki can only be passed on to you by an existing Reiki Master.
And, at least initially, this sounds plausible and quite acceptable…
Until you look a little deeper…
Quick rundown on the origins of Reiki
There are presently two versions of how Reiki came into being, both of which have been circulating for quite some time.
The Western version goes something like this:
After 21 years of searching – through various religious and esoteric manuscripts in several countries – for the ability to heal like Jesus, Usui…
…was struck in his third eye by a strong light – which came out of the darkness after a 21 day fasting meditation on Mount Kurama – imbuing him with the ability to heal.
The Eastern version goes like this…
After facing certain business failure…
Usui went to Mount Kurama and experienced a satori – or sudden understanding – about healing, whilst meditating under a waterfall, and as a consequence founded the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkei.
Okay, admittedly that’s a very brief history of the Reiki origins, but to be honest, it really doesn’t matter which version you find acceptable – they both ask you to believe that the only way for you to become attuned to the Reiki energy is by attending the initiation ceremony of an existing Reiki Master.
And this is where we have to ask you, ‘Does this really make any sense’?
Does it make any sense at all for you to accept that you can only be attuned to Reiki by someone else, when…
…the accepted founder of Reiki – Dr Mikao Usui – attuned himself to the energy of Reiki…
For in neither version of the Reiki history does it mention anywhere that there was anyone else present to pass this energy on to him. Yes, some will tell you that Usui was struck in the forehead by some kind of bright light which en‘light’ened him to Reiki – but even if that did happen (quite remote) it’s still not another person is it?
So, the actual truth is – Usui was totally alone when he attuned himself to Reiki!
Now admittedly…
The 21 days of fasting and meditating he probably went through was instrumental in this self-discovery – but self-discovery is what it was.
In fact the translated inscription on the memorial stone of Usui’s grave even implies the same for it says:
“Work on your heart and do things from the quiet space inside of you. Anyone can access Reiki, because it begins within yourself!”
So, there we are then…
Dr Mikao Usui attuned himself to Reiki – and now you can too:
